Inspired By Hanna Marin Pretty Little Liars Homecoming Dress

Even though the homecoming episode of Pretty Liars is from season 1, I'm still in love with the girls' dresses. For those of you out there who want a dress similar to Hanna's, check out this one from Windsor.

Hanna's dress features a sparkling cinched waist and soft fringe bellow the waist.

This would look great accessorized just like Hanna's dress.

Club Dresses to Tunic Tops

Continued from my last post. Here are a few more little treasures that have caught my eye recently.

Want a black dress that highlights your hott curves? Here it is. The draping and sparkling details at the waist will fall perfectly onto your figure. Take a closer look here.
Yes, I'm becoming more and more crazy about belted dresses that flair out at the hem with a tutu. It's so cute and paired with layered belts you get extra edge and attitude. Right now it's only available in large, but check it out here.

If you've been blessed with a slightly fuller bust, this top is for you. The layers of ruffles and sparkles are girly, the dark color gives a touch of attitude. Pair with a leather jacket for an edgy look or with statement jewelry for a feminine finish. Take a look at it here.

Curvy roads ahead! A urban outfitters dress for those of you who know you've got an hourglass, figure-8 shape.

Dark Twist

Shopping Overview

Here are the cutest clothes from some of my favorite online stores. Let me know if you like the pieces or the stores I've chosen...and feel welcome to tell me your favorite stores so I can check them out too :)

Retro Inspiration

Here's a cute top with a retro peterpan collar from NewLook. For a smart casual look pair with a blazer and black pants. For a relaxed look, try green cargo style pants or a short black knit skirt. Check out the top here.
Polka dots and prints are still in. They're so classic you never know if they'll go out of style. I like the fit, the fabric, and the color of this top from PinkIce.
Retro/ vintage/ modern...this top boasts a peplum bottom, a bow print, and a keyhole back. I love it with knee-length pencil skirts or dress pants. Right now it's on sale for $12.99, check it out here.

Windsor's black mock neck business dress is ideal for long, lean figured ladies. Show off your tiny waist and let this dress create curves. ...
I particularly like the how the back keyhole ties with a bow.
From Lulu's, the deep wine burgundy color adds an extra touch of classiness to the cinched waist and sheer polka dot detail. If you have a breathe-taking curvy figure, this dress will show it off. If you don't, this dress will create it for you! Check it out here.

Another peterpan style collar! I like the vintage appeal of this dress, its perfectly matching belt, and the A-line shape. Wear this plyanna pleated dress when you want to look classically girly.

Lighter, Brighter Tops

Here are some lighter, brighter, happier tops that caught my attention.

This one from Charlotte Russe is a goddess type, flowy top that will flattering shape any figure. I love that the back has the same low v-neck as the front.

Great for going out to eat in the cooler weather, this Charlotte Russe top makes you sparkle and shine, but manages to hide any bloating.
Details, details, details! The wide sleeves and thick straps make this Charlotte Russe piece unbelievably comfy. I'm a fan of the sweet color and girly detail on the side, it makes it look like you put in more effort.
My favorite. Period. This collared button-down top is from Pink Ice. On top of a cute floral print and side ruching, it boasts a corset-inspired lace-up back that I can't enough of.

Here's how I wear it.

...And to end with a touch of lace, I chose to include one more Charlotte Russe top. Its cold shoulder style is fun, the lace is flirty, and the flowy hem is comfy. It can be dressed up with accessories or a  body-con skirt and dressed down with jeans. I give this the versatility award.

More Pretty Little Liars Aria Inspiration: Bustier Tube Tops

Okay, so maybe the high school girl can' wear this without a jacket, but I'm a big fan of bustier/corset style tops with peplum. Here are three darker ones that look great on their own or with a leather jacket on top. (Charlotte Russe has a cute pink leatherette jacket that's perfect for layering.)

 Jessica Simpson Top
A Military Inspired Corset Top by Dollhouse ( sorry...this top is sold out. It's here for inspiration only.) Check Macys for similar styles.

Charlotte Russe Lace: Pretty Little Liar's Aria

Combing through Charlotte Russe's website yesterday, I noticed some incredible lace detail tops. Stunning! They reminded me of Aria's style from Pretty Little Liars (one of my favorite shows for style inspiration). And now that ABC Family announced that season 3 is on the way...I've been reading up on the show's costume designer Mandi Line (I might be her newest-biggest fan), so I created this Aria-inspired "mock-haul" from Charlotte Russe.

Focus: Details, Dark rich colors, subtle flirty signals

BLACK TRIM AZTEC TOP
The cold shoulder trend is perfect for looking a little flirty, but staying casual. An earth tone Aztec print balances out the harshness of the black and the detail trim only lets a hint of skin show.

Aria's character would probably wear this on one of her more casual days.
PRINT SLEEVE DOLMAN TOP  (My favorite on the list)
Particularly good for creating a small waist, the curved black "stripe"
down the middle works with the under-bust cinching to give you the illusion of a super tiny waist. The over-sized sheer sleeves tease onlookers with a hint of your silhouette and brighten up the look a bit.

Aria might wear feather earrings or a mini skirt and boots with this top.
 LACE ACCENT PEPLUM TOP
Lace and a floral print, can it get more girly? Well, the dark tone gives this top and edge that would pair well with some spikey jewelry and a knit hat.
 LACE-BACK COLD SHOULDER TOP

Despite its ordinary front, the backside of this top is breathtaking. You can put a colorful tank underneath, maybe tie-dye if you're really creative. Or, if you love wearing leopard print shoes, try a red under shirt and a leopard print belt.
Even though the back is detailed, this top needs some long layered necklaces in the front or a small print scarf to make you stand out.

Aria doesn't really do basics. (The only time I remember seeing her in a plain black tee, it was slashed with a white undershirt and she added large gold statement earrings.)
 FLORAL CHIFFON ASYMMETRICAL TOP

Asymmetrical hems add a lot of interest if they're done well. This print is subtle and mature, yet the hem gives it a young vibe. It'll go great with a body-con skirt or well fitted pants.
 LACE TRIM CHIFFON BLOUSE
As much as I like the front side, the elongated keyhole back is my favorite part of this top. Long sleeves make it great for winter. Pair it was a leather jacket to mix girly and rebellious vibes.

Aria would probably wear some kind of edgy boots with this. Maybe lace ups or intense buckles.
 LACE INSET PENCIL SKIRT
Ordinary pencil skirts aren't the most exciting thing anymore. The lace inset and trim adds interest and gives your skirt a personal touch. It's dark and feminine in a femme fatal sense.
Got to love the side view!
All the links are here for you to find the clothes easily. I chose a lot of tops because Charlotte Russe is having a buy one get one 50% sale on tops. Shopping sales is usually a good idea if you want to get more for less...

Earrings and some Hanna inspired clothes are on the way!

Getting Cooler

Cool weather calls for cuter outfits! Now that the summer's over your breath-taking figure won't steal the show as much; you've got to use your clothes to make your statement. Depending on how cold the weather is in your area, I recommend a clean simple look like this for work, internships, or any where that you want to make a good impression.

Inspiration: I got these brown boots over the weekend and I needed a simple outfit to take them on a test run.

The Look: A warm navy blue blazer (H&M) paired with a long sleeve white v-neck (random boutique store in San Diego) kept me warm while the floral print scarf (Charlotte Russe) added a pop of color and style. The jeggings (Foreign Exchange) create a smooth, clean shape and the brown lace-up boots (Love Culture) kept me cozy and comfortable.

Earth tone boots have been on my winter wish list for a while, but I hadn't settled on a pair. When I saw these had a soft, warm lining I fell in love. (I shop like a romantic. It's either love at first sight or it's not happening.) You'll definitely see me post more outfit of the day looks using these boots. Let me know what other kinds of looks you want to see.

Retro Style: New Dress I'm Loving!

I just spotted this little dress on Lulus.com. I love it's shape, but I'm wishing it came in another color. Here it is, and I'm keeping my eyes open for this dress in different colors.

The dress looks '50s retro from the front, but the cutout in the back makes it modern and up-to-date with today's peek-a-boo trend. It's flirty, girly, coy, innocent--I think you could send any message you want in this dress. Not to mention, it's perfect for pairing with floral print heals which have been making a very mild splash in the style scene.

Tan Shoes from UrbanOG

Hey. I'm back!
Now that we've been in school for a little while, all of the cute trends are starting to surface and the less than cute trends are starting to sink. Let's zero in on one of my favorite footwear trends of the moment--tan shoes. I'm particularly in love with tan boots, and, luckily, I just noticed Urbanog.com's selection of tan boots...I've got about 3 pairs in my shopping cart....but which ones do you like???

1. Cambridge Knee High
The Details: You'll be able to rush out the door in style with these knee high lace up boots. Along with a front lace up detail, you'll get side zipper closure to help your feet slip right into their dream boot. The flat height make these ideal for all day walking.
The Scoop: Lace ups are in. These are cuter than combat boots. The round toe keeps your look delicate, but the whole shoe packs a punch of feminine attitude.
The Style Tips: Pair with black leggings, a longer cardigan, and your favorite v-neck, and some feather accessories for a stylish, flirty look.

The Details: Mid calf cowboy inspired boots keep things casual and trendy.
The Scoop: A cowboy cut adds flair and flavor to your look.
The Style Tips: Wear with blue jeggings to bring out the boots' great color.

The Details: A side zipper helps you easily glide into these slouchy tan leatherette knee highs. Buckles give you edge and texture. The slight wedge keeps you comfy enough for extended walking, but still gives you that flirty appeal of extra height.
The Scoop: The extra warm color will brighten up even your darkest looks.
The Style Tips: Try to find matching accessories (bags, belts, watches, bangles)...if all fails, go for multi-color scarves or layered embellished necklaces that feature a warm neutral palette to complement the boots.

Like this post??...let me know what fall fashions you're into this year.

The Wild West: Trend Review

I went shopping today. I really spent some time in the stores and I'm starting to see the trends develop more and more. Here is a list which trends are the cutest...and, of course, a few style tips on how to wear them.

Top Ten Trends (in no particular order)

  1. Camel, Taupe, and Whiskey colors. These look great on boots, jackets, cardigans, and tanks.
  2. Cold shoulders. A lot of tops coming out have draped sleeves that show your shoulders. (I got a gorgeous one with sequins from Charlotte Russe. An outfit of the day is on the way!)
  3. Feathers. Feathers have made their way onto hair extensions, earrings, necklaces, tops, and into our closets. Layer two colors for a pop, or use them to pull your whole outfit together.
  4. Work Boots. Boots with extra straps, buckles, or even hideous over-worn looking lace up boots...I hope those don't stick around for long.
  5. Blazers. There are more blazers in stores than ever before.
  6. Native American Inspired Graphics. This is trend is for your tee shirts.
  7. Over-sized Sweaters and Tees. Comfort at last! No more need to suck in our tummies...we can breathe confidently. Wear over-sized items with tighter bottoms to maintain a cute figure. You don't want to end up looking frumpy.
  8. Tops with Trains. Tops that have a longer back than front pair perfectly with form-fitting body con skirts. They cover your tush and keep you mysterious.
  9. Animals on Jewelry.
  10. Chunky, thick heals. Seriously, this season's vibe is "lay back and relax in the wild west"
