Fall Trends: Feathers
Hope you had an amazing Labor Day. In case you didn't make to the mall over the weekend, let me bring you up to speed on all the fall trends to look forward to.
1. Feathers: Feathers are appearing on necklaces, earrings, hair pieces, and tee shirts. Here are two feather pieces that I particular like.
Tops with feathers printed across the neckline don't require any accessories. But, I love that this tunic boasts a skinny belt with feather detail. This top is modern, casual, and figure-flattering--perfect for school or spending time with friends. Check out lovemode.com for colorful feather tops and feather necklaces.
2. Colors: This fall's favorite color for tops and coats is red, a rich rusty red. (Check out my polyvore set on fall reds.) Boots are coming in more camel, taupe, and whiskey hues. Last year I started to stray away from black boots and began to love grey, but it looks like these warm neutrals are taking the spotlight.
3. Body Con Skirts: These hip-hugging mini skirts aren't just for summer. Most body con skirts are made of a thick knit fabric that's perfect for winter, just add leggings/ stockings underneath and top the took off with an over sized sweater. Body con skirts also look flirty-casual with tight tops and long, lightweight cardigans. (More outfit of the day posts are on the way!)
Wear printed skirts, like gojane's sublimation elastic skirt in teal, with large knit tops and long statement necklace for day. When the sun sets, cinch your waist with an earth-tone belt and boost your bust in a bustier top.
Strictly casual, throw your most comfortable layering tanks, or tees, and a cardigan over this sultry stripped skirt. Layer a long and shorter length necklace to give the look a touch of your personality. Outfits that feature a lot of basics also look great with rings, so dazzle your fingers with all your favorite rings to finish the look.

A soft colored feather necklace, like this one from American Eagle, adds something special to those solid white tops you usually stock up on. A solid color sweater, thermal, v-neck, or turtle neck won't look plain with a feather necklace.

I came across these shoes online today and they looked so Cinderella-esque! I think they're adorable. (If the website selling them allowed returns on shoes I'd have bought them in a heart beat.) But, if your getting ready for Halloween early, these are the cutest princess shoes ever...and less than $30.

Outfit of the Day: School Days
School bells already rang for most schools. That means, cooler weather will arrive soon, but you'll still want to look good. Here is an outfit and a few style tips to keep you looking polished.
I paired a blue blazer (H&M), graphic tee (H&M), ripped jeggings (gojane.com), and pale pink ballet flat with bow detail to style this outfit. Instead of over wearing your hoodies, sweaters, and jackets, opt for a blazers. Blazers look for sophisticated and mature, and they don't have to be professional if you make them trendy. The ripped jeggings and tee shirt keep this look casual enough for school...not to mention jeggings are much more comfortable than jeans.

Coming Soon!
This coming week I'll be doing more on fall fashion and back to school style tips. Leave a lasting impression and make this year your best school year ever. I'll get into how to feel comfortable and confident while testing out new trends. Break the mold, step out of the box, and arrive to school in a new style that'll have all your friends in awe.
Outfit of the Night: Little Black Dress Part II
After my last post on little black dresses, I thought I should share two little outfits on myself. My roommate and I were playing dress up randomly when I styled these outfits. (I LOVE my roommate!) We like playing dress up evenwhen we're not going anywhere... it keeps us prepared for those spontaneous events that seem to always come up.
The First Look: I chose this floral print black dress because of it's burst of color and bustier style. Bustier styles often give you more of an hourglass shape, which is why they are a favorite of mine. The belt boasts a bow detail in the center that maintains the girly, flirty vibe of my dress. Black pumps with a delicate round toe add to the soft feminine charm. My bangles attempt to complete the look, but the more bangles the better!
The Second Look: Going in the opposite direction, I created a solid black outfit with only one pop of color. This stays truer to the "little black dress tradition," but it still has its own quirks. Every look deserves to have an element of originality.
The Second Look: A form-fitting black v-neck tank meets my attention-grabbing, waist-clinching teal belt, and an '80s inspired black mini skirt. It's the skirts two tiers of ruffles that make it special. The ruffles give me the extra hips that I don't have while hugging my thighs. My outfit goes from tight, to poofy, to tight again, preventing me from looking too much like a little girl in a fluffy ballet tutu. (Even though I love tutus.)
Style Lesson of the Day: Proportions and balance are important. When the bustier style dress accentuated my top half, I didn't do anything extra to draw attention to my hips. When the skirt emphasized my hips, I wore a plain top for balance. Most importantly, I always defined my waist to maintain a womanly figure.
